Why You Can Gain Weight Just By Moving To The Suburbs

An understanding of fat burning exercise and nutrition are both vital to achieve and sustain permanent weight loss and fat reduction.

But which has more of an impact on fat burning? Scientists carried out a  couple of exercises to come up with the answer.

Weight Loss Studies

There have only been a few studies to establish whether fat burning nutrition or exercise has a bigger impact on fat burning. As few studies like this had been conducted, scientists followed them closely.

They studied people who moved from big cities to the suburbs, and the reverse, to determine the affect of the move on the weight of the subjects. The diet regimens of city dwellers and suburbanites were similar. The results were expected, but fascinating.

What the studies revealed

Within the first year of moving from a city to the suburbs, the participants in the studies gained, on average, 15 pounds. Within the first six to eight months of moving to a city from the suburbs, the subjects in the studies lost an average of 15 pounds

The main conclusion of the studies was as follows:

The subjects living in a city did more walking than the subjects living in the suburbs. While subjects living in the suburbs rode in a car to get to wherever they wanted to go (supermarket or school etc), subjects in the city often walked there. Both weight gain and weight loss was attributed to this.

The professionals agree that if you want to lose weight, exercise will be a bigger factor than nutrition. To give you an idea of how diet and exercise each affect weight loss, it has been said that it is 65% – 35% in favor of exercise.

Most experts agree that, in a perfect world, you would do a recommended fat burning exercise routine as well as addressing your nutrition, if you want to burn fat and achieve a permanent weight reduction.

Is There Something Of Value That You Can Take From These Results?

Can you burn fat and lose weight permanently if

  • you do not alter your diet, but follow a good exercise regimen?
  • you dont do any exercise, but you are doing a well known weight loss diet?
  • you just partly comply with the recommendations on nutrition and exercise?

Stop Smoking With An Electronic Cigarette

Although electronic cigarettes can be made in a variety of forms and shapes, they all have the same basic components. The mouthpiece (also known as the cartridge) is a small disposable plastic cap that is attached to the end of the tube, and when they are screwed together they look like a real cigarette. Within the mouthpiece is an absorbent material saturated with a liquid nicotine solution. Suction causes air to flow through the hole in the end of the mouthpiece to bring the vapor into your mouth. The only heated part of an electronic cigarette is the cartridge which contains the liquid nicotine. The heater runs off a lithium-ion battery, which can be recharged as often as you want in a wall socket or via an-car charger. It depends on the type of battery used, and how often you use it, but you can expect the battery to last for a least a couple of days before needing to re-charge it.

As for the nicotine solution, you can refill the cartridges when they run out. The liquid normally contains some kind of flavoring, and consists of nicotine dissolved in propylene glycol and / or glycerin. Both of those substances are common food additives, and are not considered harmful to your health. Different concentration levels of the nicotine solution allow you to choose the amount of nicotine you want to consume. Concentrations range from low (4mg/ml) to extra-high (50mg/ml). There are also solutions available that do not contain any nicotine at all. You should aim to steadily reduce the concentration of the nicotine solution that you use. Start off with a concentrate that works out equal to the number of normal cigarettes that you have been smoking (you can use a free online tool to do this) and then reduce the concentration of the nicotine solution used for the electronic cigarette on a weekly basis. It will depend on how much you are smoking now, but it is not unrealistic to be able to cut out your nicotine addiction within a couple of months.
