Question Former Smoker’s Personal facts on regaining lung health?
I am a 38 yr old woman. I have been smoking since around 15 yrs. old. I finally have had enough!!!
I have chronic bronchitis. I get hit 2 or 3 times a year. The doctor said if I quit I won’t get bronchitis. True?
I know it doesn’t really matter but I actually want to know how long it usually takes to get your lungs back into healthy condition.
Once I get past this last bought of bronchitis I plan to start Aerobic walking. I live in Wisconsin and this is a dangerous time of year to START a walking program.

I was also curious about other health things like Phlegm. How long does it take before you don’t wake up in the morning coughing up your lungs?!!
Have you noticed a change in your sense of taste?
How long does it take for the nicotine and other chemicals to wash out of your skin?
Thanks~

The Best Answer Hi Kelly,
I am a nurse and a smoker. Yes, yes, I know better and should be ashamed of myself being in the health care industry. Sorry but we are the worlds worst. Anyway, I have been smoking since 15 and am 48 now. I have actually cut back to about 4-5 cigs a day and to be honest that is probably the best it will get. In answer to some of your questions though. If you quit you probably will not get bronchitis. The doctor can’t guarantee that you won’t get bronchitis but when I stopped completely a few years ago I went two winters without having bronchitis. As for getting your lungs back in shape. They won’t get any worse if you stop and you will notice that it is easier to breathe after a month or so, you will also have more energy. The coughing up phlegm thing will lessen as your lungs improve and they don’t have to contend with the smoke anymore. Yes, your taster buds come back to life after a month or so and unless you are very attentive you will put on at least 10-15 lbs. As for the nicotine and other chemicals washing out of your skin, I can’ really say for sure on that. anyway, good luck.

Question I need answers regarding Universal Health Care excluding personal opinions, please. Just need facts.?
I. What state is the proposal at? i.e voting details, or where is the proposal is at in it’s journey thru congress? When might it take effect?

II. How might this affect hospital employees and their salaries, excluding doctors…such as nurses and rad-techs.

The Best Answer 1. Bills begin in committees in both the House of Representatives and the Senate. Right now, there are several committees in both chambers that are drafting bills. Once a bill is written in committee, amended, voted on and passed, it must pass through approval of the Senate Finance committee, House Ways and Means Committee, and presented to explain funding to the Congressional Budget Office.

Generally before it goes to either floor for debate and vote, an informal poll is taken to see if it will pass. So in short, until something comes out of a House Committee, there is no way of knowing what it will be. There are many versions.

(off the record, what the news and your teacher won’t tell you) Behind the scenes there are groups called lobbyists. Lobby groups pour money into candidates running for office. Usually, they finance both candidates. Right now, the health care, pharmaceuticals, and insurance lobby’s are bankrolling members of Congress. They target those committee members, like Max Baucus and Chuck Grassley, Chairman and ranking members of the Senate Finance Committee to kill any government involved health care or insurance.

2. Just depends on what bill if any is finally passed. Right now, nothing can get passed the Senate Finance Committee. House Democrats representing conservative districts, are reluctant to take a stand either way.

Health PPO – The Right Insurance For You!

You should not be without a health insurance these days and a health PPO is the best option. Not being covered under a health insurance plan can leave you exposed to the risks of high medical costs that may not be affordable as well.

Good medical care does not come cheap and your best bet would be to look for cheap health insurance that can cover most of your needs. There are two major plans like the PPO and the HMO opted for by Americans coast to coast.

Choose your specialist

Even though there are many options when it comes to health care and cheap insurance, PPO offers many distinct advantages that are far ahead of the others. You are at liberty to choose the specialist you want and not restricted to the list of doctors empanelled under the insurer. By being able to select your doctor, it gets easy to narrow down the choices to specialists you require for your type of health problems.

Many Americans coast to coast are without pay and do not have regular jobs that make it difficult for them to pay for quality health care. If that is the common concern, then they are grossly mistaken as health is something that you cannot compromise on and you need the right coverage upfront.

Shopping for cheap insurance always takes them to insurers that restrict facilities. You finally end up with a health insurance that does not really service your purpose.

A private doctor can be good for checkups only up to a certain point, but you could be in need of specialized health care. What do you do then? You may have to go to a medical service provider not covered by other health insurance companies. Even though cheap insurance polices other then health PPO pays a portion of the cost, in most cases, you would have to foot the entire bill.

Receive referrals with PPO

It is not easy paying for medical cost when you don’t have a regular job or are experiencing pay cuts. Even though employers and employees find the HMO attractive, there are many constraints compared to the PPO.

You can also receive referrals from doctors under the PPO plan which comes in handy if you are required to visit a specialist. You would not have to report to the primary physician for every health related issue.

Health insurance can only serve your purpose if you are left with enough flexibility to go to specific doctors you think would be able to handle your health problem effectively. If you need to see specialists, you don’t have to waste time to see one. You can go straight away and visit a specialist with a health PPO and save your life.
