Get Healthier By Selecting The Right Dietary Choices

Recent dietary research has uncovered various nutrient rich foods that time and again promote your good health. Labeled “superfoods,” they tend to have fewer calories, greater amounts of vitamins and essential minerals, and many disease-fighting antioxidants.

Beans (legumes), berries (especially blueberries), broccoli, seaweed, nuts (especially walnuts), oranges, pumpkin, salmon, soy, spinach, tomatoes, fowl such as turkey, free range chicken, whole grains and oats, and yogurt can all help reduce your risk of experiencing diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, Alzheimer’s, and some forms of cancer. And where one might have an effect on a certain part of the body, it may also help with other body functions and performance, since the entire body is interconnected. With these foods as the base of a balanced, solid diet, weight loss diets and other questionable programs can become a thing of the past in your life.

Conversely, the ill-effects of an imbalanced diet are several and varied. Low energy levels, emotional swings, tired all the time, weight change, feelings of being uncomfortable with your body are just a few signs that your diet is could use improvement. An unbalanced diet can cause problems with maintenance of body tissues, growth and development, brain and nervous system function, as well as problems with bone and muscle systems. Sufficient protein levels are critical for good health too. However, factory farming meats are generally filled with hormones, chemicals and other unhealthy additives;one viable alternative is grass fed beef. Returning to traditional farming has proved that organic chicken eggs are more nutritious providing twice as much vitamin E, six times more beta carotene and four times more essential Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids with half as much cholesterol as store bought eggs.

Our modern diets based on prepackaged convenience or fast foods are sorely lacking in many vitamins and minerals, are high in carbohydrates, salt, and fat, which can affect our mental capacities as well, and cause irritability, confusion, and the feeling of ‘being in a fog’ all the time. Our bodies are full but often we are suffering from malnutrition. Symptoms of malnutrition include lack of energy, irritability, a weakened immune system leading to frequent colds or allergies, and mineral depletion that can trigger a variety of health concerns including anemia. Some doctors believe that poor nutrition, especially mineral depletion is the foundation of all diseases.

And since the body is interconnected, realizing that an unhealthy body will result in an unhealthy spirit only makes sense. When we choose the right nutrients through a balanced dietand complement them with other nutrient-dense and healthy fresh foods, our spirit will be vitalized and healthy as a direct result. Superfoods can be the basis of a sound, healthy, nutritious solution to healthy long life.

Natural Appetite Suppressants Found In Common Foods

Going on a diet could be hard, you cannot eat anything you want and it makes you hungry. One of the biggest challenge in the journey of loosing weight is controlling your appetite. You can control your hunger without turning to pills or chemicals that you do not know much about. When it comes to suppressants you have to decide what works best for you, either taking supplements or natural suppressants.

Mother nature has provided a number of natural appetite suppressants namely water, broth, green leafy vegetables, pickles, and apples. So with these, you do not have to take any supplements or pills to control your hunger. You should always keep these foods within reach because you will never know when hunger bug strikes.

Simple drinking water. Water is an amazing substance. Your body is 55 to 60 percent water, so this is a substance that you constantly need to renew. But, water has other effects as well. If you get hungry and it is not meal time, you will often find that drinking an 8 ounce glass of water takes away hunger. Wait 10 minutes after drinking the water before eating anything. Most of the time, you will find that you do not need to eat.

It is unfortunate that some people do not like drinking water because it does so many great things for your body. If so, organic vegetable broth is a food that could fill you up. The body treats water as a liquid, but it treats broth as a food. This means that broth satisfies your body’s need for food. Try chicken broth and you will only intake 20 calories!

Green leafy vegetables have very low calories that you do not even have to count them! In fact, many of these can even be considered negative calorie foods because it takes more energy for the body to digest the vegetables than calories. Try cabbage, lettuce, bok choy, spinach, these are terrific natural appetite suppressants.

Pickles are not just for pregnant women anymore. It is possible to eat an entire jar of these natural pickles and consume only about 50 calories. You want to look for the natural organic pickles found in health food stores or in the health food section of your favorite grocer. And you can eat an entire jar of pickles without feeling any guilt!

Apples. Apples are great natural appetite suppressants. Apples may be the highest calorie food on this list, but they are packed with fiber. An apple will fill you up for a long time. They are also sweet, so when you crave for a cookie, grab an apple instead.
